Sunday 24 September 2006 was a lovely late summer afternoon and the setting at Ham Polo Club for the Billy Walsh Final and Subsidiary.
The Teams for this match were Los Avispas and Clarita
Los Avispas (Black and Yellow): 1, Ben de Rivaz (-1); 2, Mike Trippitt (-1); 3, Jamie Le Hardy (5) and Bk N ick Colquhoun-Denvers (0)
Clarita (White): 1, Clare Mathias (-1); 2, Chris Mathias (0); 3, Benjie Davis (-1) and Bk Sam Gairdner (4)
Like the final this match was hard fought although Clarita as well as having a ½ goal lead seemed to have a few more ideas than Los Avispas, pulling back from being 1 down due to the successful penalty goal taken by Jamie to open the score card, to take a 2 goal lead into the second chukka. Perhaps Clarita also wanted to prove a point in this low goal match having been pipped at the post in the medium goal Valerie Halford Memorial by Ocho Rios.
Anyway it was a cracking match - which the goal posts agree with (!) and Clarita managed to reach their target 10 goals, winning the match but 10½ - 7 card.
