Sunday 24 September 2006 was a lovely late summer afternoon and the setting at Ham Polo Club for the Billy Walsh Final and Subsidiary.
The teams for the final were Los Angeles and Carrisbrook
Los Angeles (White): 1, Heiko Voelker (-1); 2, Pete McCormack (0?); 3, Julian Drake (-2) and Bk Lucas Talamoni(4)
Carrisbrook (Blue): 1, Jayne Rumsey (-1); 2, Raffa Singh (0); 3, Tim Brown (4) and Bk Richard Faggan (-1)
Los Angeles had a ½ goal start due to a 1 goal difference in handicap and certainly made use of it in the first chukka taking an early lead before being overtaken to 2-3 after the 7 minutes. It was in the second chukka that Los Angeles pulled away to gain 5 goals, with every member of the team scoring (according to my notes) without Carrisbrook putting another ball between the posts. This sealed the match despite Carrisbrook's determined efforts to get themselves back into the game.
Final score Los Angeles were the winners by 10½ - 7
